Mubasher: UK gross domestic product (GDP) grew 0.4% over the three-month period ended October, slightly slower than the three months ended September, the UK’s Office for National Statistics (ONS) said on Monday.
“GDP growth slowed going into the autumn after a strong summer, with a softening in services sector growth mainly due to a fall in car sales,” the ONS's head of national accounts Rob Kent-Smith said, adding that “this was offset by a strong showing from IT [information technology] and accountancy.”
The UK GDP went up 0.1% last October, after remaining flat in the two prior months.
By 9:37 am GMT, the GBP/USD remained stable at $1.2726, while the EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to GBP 0.8969.
